About Domestic Tandoors
Bring the Taste of Tandoor Home
Summer evenings in Mississauga are made for being outside. Imagine your backyard smelling not just of fresh-cut grass, but of sizzling kebabs and freshly baked naan. Our home tandoor ovens are designed for exactly that. They turn a regular weekend get-together into something special, bringing the authentic, smoky flavour of tandoori cooking right to your patio. It’s more than just an oven; it’s your new favourite way to make memories with family and friends.
Here’s Why You’ll Love Having One
- Made for Your Backyard: Whether you have a cozy patio in a townhouse or a bigger yard out in Erin Mills, we have a size that fits. Our tandoors come in 3 different model sizes 26”, 28”, and 32”, so that you can find the perfect match for your space without taking over the whole deck.
- Take the Party with You: These aren’t just for home. They’re portable enough to pack up for a family picnic at Erindale Park or even take on a camping trip. With enough room to cook for 10-20 people, you can easily become the hero of any outdoor gathering.
- The Authentic Charcoal Flavour: This is the real deal. Our ovens use charcoal and wood, which is the only way to get that unmistakable smoky kiss that makes tandoori food so incredible. The intense, even heat from the clay pot locks in all the juices, making everything you cook unbelievably tender and flavourful.
- Looks Great, Built to Last: We build these ovens with a high-quality clay core for perfect heat retention, wrapped in a beautiful, easy-to-clean mirror steel finish. It’s tough enough to live outside and looks sharp sitting next to your grill.
Peace of Mind Comes Standard
A quick note on safety: these are designed for outdoor use only. Just give it a little breathing room from the side of the house, and never use it in a garage or enclosed space. Your backyard or patio is the perfect spot.
You can also relax knowing that our ovens are CSA and NSF certified, which is a fancy way of saying they meet high standards for safety and quality. We recommend keeping it under a simple cover when you’re not using it to protect it from the rain and snow.
Find Your Perfect Match
- The R26 (20” x 26”): This compact tandoor is perfect for smaller families or for those intimate dinners on the patio. It easily handles enough food for up to 10 people.
- The R28 (20” x 28”): Our most popular home model, this is the sweet spot. It’s ideal for having friends over and serves up to 15 guests without breaking a sweat.
- The R32 (20” x 32”): Are you the go-to host for every family long weekend? This is your tandoor. It’s big enough to handle small catering gigs or larger family parties of up to 20 people with ease.
Frequently Asked Questions
Domestic tandoors are smaller, portable, and wood/charcoal-fired, designed for home and backyard use only whereas commercial tandoors are much larger, stationary units, propane/gas-powered for high-volume restaurant use.
Yes, you can use both for great flavour. Lump charcoal is recommended for consistent high heat, while small pieces of seasoned wood with mustard oil can be added to impart a delicious smoky flavour.
No, never use your tandoor indoors, in a garage, or any enclosed space. It produces lethal carbon monoxide (CO) gas and must only be operated outdoors in a well-ventilated area away from walls or any closed spaces.
The high heat makes the tandoor self-cleaning, so never use water or cleaners on the interior clay. Once cool, simply brush out any ash from the bottom and wipe the stainless steel exterior with a damp cloth.
The most important rule is to keep the tandoor dry to protect the clay. Use a quality waterproof cover and store it in a sheltered location like a garage or covered patio once it has completely cooled down. Make sure you bring it out from the closed areas before firing it for use again.
The only difference between R26, R28 and R32 model is the size and capacity. 26”,28” and 32” refers to the height of the tandoor whereas width remains the same as 20”.
Your tandoor is ready when the inside walls have burned clean from black soot to a bright white/grey colour. You can also test by flicking water on the wall; if it sizzles and evaporates instantly, it’s hot enough for naan.
Accessories included with a domestic tandoor are:
- 10 Assorted Skewers
- 1 Pair Naan Rod
- 1 Repair Kit
A tandoor excels at high-heat cooking. It's perfect for traditional breads like naan, marinated meats like chicken tikka and seekh kebabs, and flavourful roasted vegetables and paneer.
Absolutely! Just be sure to keep the oven protected from snow and ice with its cover. Allow it to heat up a bit more gradually in freezing temperatures to prevent thermal shock to the internal clay pot.
